Best Camisole Top Sewing Patterns

Camisoles are sleeveless tops with thinner straps than tank/vest tops. You can find silky versions made from woven fabrics and figure-hugging ones made from stretchy knit fabrics. Today, I’ve rounded up the best cami top patterns on offer for women including 9 FREE ones!

“Orchard” Classic Camisole with Bias Binding 

  • Sizes: US 0 – 34. Bust: 31” – 60” (78.5 – 1525 cm).
  • Design: Classic camisole. Spaghetti straps. A-line silhouette. Bias-bound neck and armholes with binding extending to form the straps. A dress view also included.
  • Fabric: Light to medium-weight woven fabrics like linen, cotton blends, rayon, viscose, crepe, or silk. The more structured your fabric, the more dramatic the shape of your camisole will be.
  • Format: Print-at-home digital download in US letter or A4 size. A0 copyshop size. A comprehensive instruction booklet is included with the download.
  • Suitable for beginners? Yes. I think this pattern would be suitable for an advanced beginner. Some garment sewing knowledge would be an advantage as attaching the bias binding and forming the straps will require accuracy and precision, but the instructions are designed for beginners and very detailed.

“Etty” Camisole with Scalloped Neckline (+Video)

  • Sizes: UK 6 – 24. Bust: 31” – 49” (79 – 124.5 cm).

    • UK 4 – 26 (B-cup). Bust: 31” – 51” (79 – 130 cm). 
    • UK 12 – 34 (D Cup). Bust: 39” – 61” (99 – 155 cm).
  • Design: Simple camisole top. V-neckline on the front and back. Thin straps. Bust darts. Fitted bodice. Bias binding straps.
  • Fabric: Light to medium-weight woven fabrics like linen, cotton blends, rayon, viscose, crepe, satin, chiffon, or silk.

  • Suitable for beginners? Yes. I think an adventurous beginner could have a go at this pattern but some previous garment sewing experience would be an advantage when sewing the thin bias binding straps. Use a stable fabric such as cotton or linen to make the sewing process easier.

How to Sew a Buttonhole by Hand – Ultimate

  What thread do you use for hand sewing buttonholes? Traditionally, silk buttonhole twist thread (for example  [1] ,  [2] , or  [3] ) is used for hand working buttonholes. It’s a thicker silk thread that’s very strong, and it creates a beautiful shiny appearance. It can be challenging to source based on your location, so if you, like me, can’t get your hands on it you can also use regular topstitching thread.
